अध्याय ५५ — भीष्मस्य प्रचण्डविक्रमः, अर्जुनप्रत्युत्तरं, कृष्णस्य चक्रोद्यतिः
Chapter 55: Bhīṣma’s onslaught, Arjuna’s counter, and Kṛṣṇa’s raised discus
[दाक्षिणात्य अधिक पाठके २ ई श्लोक मिलाकर कुल ६० ई लोक हैं।] >> श््जु ीस-ॉ्िसस ३. यहाँ “नियुत” का अर्थ एक लाख किया गया है। किसी-किसीके मतमें उसका अर्थ दस लाख भी होता है। २. दस करोड़की संख्याको अर्बुद कहते हैं। 3. पंख। ४. अग्रभाग। ५. पंखके भीतरके छोटे-छोटे पंख। एकपज्चाशत्तमो< ध्याय: कौरव-सेनाकी व्यूह-रचना तथा दोनों दलोंमें शंखध्वनि और सिंहनाद संजय उवाच क्रौज्च॑ दृष्टवा ततो व्यूहमभेद्यं तनयस्तव । रक्ष्यमाणं महाघोरं पार्थेनामिततेजसा,संजय कहते हैं--महाराज! उस अत्यन्त भयंकर अभेद्य क्रौंचव्यूहको अमिततेजस्वी अर्जुनके द्वारा सुरक्षित देखकर आपका पुत्र दुर्योधन आचार्य द्रोण, कृप, शल्य, भूरिश्रवा, विकर्ण, अश्वत्थामा और दुःशासन आदि सब भाइयों तथा युद्धके लिये आये हुए अन्य बहुतेरे शूरवीरोंके पास जाकर उन सबका हर्ष बढ़ाता हुआ यह समयोचित वचन बोला --वीरो! आप सब लोग नाना प्रकारके अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंके प्रहारमें कुशल तथा युद्धकी कलामें निपुण हैं
sañjaya uvāca | krauñcaṃ dṛṣṭvā tato vyūham abhedyaṃ tanayas tava | rakṣyamāṇaṃ mahāghoraṃ pārthenāmitatejasā ||
Sañjaya dijo: «Oh rey, al ver entonces aquella formación de batalla ‘Krauñca’, formidable e impenetrable—terrible en su propio diseño—custodiada por Arjuna, de esplendor inconmensurable, tu hijo (Duryodhana) …»
