Viewing Bhīṣma’s Battle Array and Arjuna’s Reassurance
tyaktvā adharmaṁ ca lobhaṁ ca mohaṁ ca udyamam āsthitāḥ | yuddhadhvam anahaṅkārā yato dharmas tato jayaḥ ||
«¡Oh dioses!
Victory is aligned with dharma: one should abandon adharma, greed, and delusion, act with disciplined effort, and fight (or act) without ego; ethical grounding, not mere force, is presented as the true basis of success.
In the Bhīṣma Parva war-setting, Sañjaya reports an exhortation to the combatants: to enter battle with moral clarity and humility—renouncing corrupt motives and ego—affirming that the side rooted in dharma ultimately prevails.
