राजेन्द्र तव पुत्राणां पाण्डवानां तथैव च | दुष्प्रधृष्याणि चास्त्राणि सशस्त्रकवचानि च,राजेन्द्र! आपके पुत्रों तथा पाण्डवोंके दुर्दम्य अस्त्र-शस्त्र तथा कवच चमक उठे
sañjaya uvāca | rājendra tava putrāṇāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ tathaiva ca | duṣpradharṣyāṇi cāstrāṇi saśastrakavacāni ca ||
Sañjaya dijo: Oh rey de reyes, las armas formidables—y los pertrechos y armaduras—de tus hijos, y asimismo de los Pāṇḍavas, resplandecieron, difíciles de resistir para cualquier enemigo. La escena subraya la preparación marcial equivalente en ambos bandos y presagia el grave peso ético de una guerra en la que los parientes se enfrentan a los parientes.
