समन्ततश्न दृश्यन्ते पतिता धरणीतले । बाणोंकी वेदनासे आतुर हो पताकाओंसहित बड़े-बड़े हाथी चारों दिशाओंमें चक्कर काट रहे थे। नरेन्द्र! गदा, शक्ति और धनुष धारण किये हुए बहुत-से क्षत्रिय सब ओर पृथ्वीपर पड़े दृष्टिगोचर हो रहे थे || ६१ है ।। ततो भीष्मो महाराज दिव्यमस्त्रमुदीरयन्‌

Transliteration

samantataś ca dṛśyante patitā dharaṇītale |

Translation

Dijo Sañjaya: Por todas partes se veían guerreros caídos sobre la tierra. El campo de batalla estaba sembrado de los cuerpos de muchos kṣatriya—reyes y combatientes que empuñaban mazas, lanzas y arcos—revelando el terrible precio de la ira y la rivalidad cuando el dharma queda eclipsado por la compulsión de vencer.
