Bhīmasena’s Engagement with Multiple Mahārathas
ववर्ष शरवर्षेण मेघो वृष्ट्या यथाचलौ । पुरुषसिंह श्रीकृष्ण और अर्जुनको रथपर बैठे देख शान्तनुनन्दन भीष्मने पुनः उनपर बाणोंकी वर्षा आरम्भ कर दी, मानो मेघ दो पर्वतोंपर जलकी धारा गिरा रहा हो
vavarṣa śaravarṣeṇa megho vṛṣṭyā yathācalau |
Sañjaya dijo: Bhīṣma, hijo de Śāntanu, al ver al león entre los hombres—Śrī Kṛṣṇa—y a Arjuna sentados juntos en su carro, volvió a descargar sobre ellos una lluvia de flechas, como si una nube derramara torrentes de agua sobre dos montañas. El verso subraya la intensidad implacable del combate justo: el valor firme se enfrenta a la resistencia firme, y el campo de batalla se vuelve una prueba de resolución y deber.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethic of steadfastness in dharma-yuddha: even when facing revered opponents, a warrior committed to duty maintains unwavering effort. The simile of cloud and mountains frames endurance and resolve as central virtues amid conflict.
Sañjaya narrates that Bhīṣma, seeing Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna together on their chariot, renews his assault, releasing a dense barrage of arrows—likened to a cloud pouring rain upon two mountains.
