भीमसेनस्य बहुमहारथसंयुगः

न्यपतन्त गतप्राणा: शतशो5थ सहस्रश: । राजन! जिनके सवार मार दिये गये थे, ऐसे हाथी और घोड़े सैकड़ों और हजारोंकी संख्यामें निष्प्राण होकर पड़े थे
nyapatanta gataprāṇāḥ śataśo ’tha sahasraśaḥ |
Sañjaya dijo: Oh rey, por cientos y aun por miles caían, sin aliento: elefantes de guerra y caballos cuyos jinetes habían sido muertos, tendidos inertes por todo el campo de batalla, testimonio sombrío de la ruina que sigue cuando el combate devora tanto a los hombres como a las criaturas atadas a su servicio.
