भीष्म॑ द्रोणं कृपं चैव शल्यं चोवाच भारत । युध्यध्वमनहंकारा: कि चिरं कुरुथेति च,भारत! तब सम्पूर्ण योद्धाओंके मुखसे निकली हुई उन बातोंको सुनकर सम्पूर्ण लोकोंका अपराध करनेवाले आपके पुत्र दुर्योधनने भीष्म, द्रोण, कृप और शल्यसे कहा --“आपलोग अहंकार छोड़कर युद्ध करें; विलम्ब क्यों कर रहे हैं?
sañjaya uvāca | bhīṣmaṃ droṇaṃ kṛpaṃ caiva śalyaṃ covāca bhārata | yudhyadhvam anahaṃkārāḥ kiṃ ciraṃ kurutheti ca ||
Sañjaya dijo: «Entonces Duryodhana se dirigió a Bhīṣma, Droṇa, Kṛpa y Śalya: “Combatid, dejando a un lado el orgullo y la importancia personal. ¿Por qué tardáis tanto?” Este instante subraya cómo, en el ardor de la guerra, la impaciencia y el ego empujan a los jefes a presionar a ancianos y maestros, convirtiendo el deber en una contienda de prestigio más que en una búsqueda disciplinada de la rectitud.»
