Adhyāya 90: Babhruvāhana’s Reception and the Commencement of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Aśvamedha
स्तुवन्तो देवदूताश्न स्थिता दानेन विस्मिता: । “देखो
stuvanto devadūtāś ca sthitā dānena vismitāḥ |
Los mensajeros divinos permanecen allí, maravillados por tu dádiva, y te alaban. Mira: desde el cielo cae una lluvia de flores sobre la tierra; los sabios entre los dioses, los propios dioses, los Gandharvas y otros seres celestes preeminentes, junto con los enviados del cielo, están asombrados por tu generosidad y se mantienen presentes, entonando himnos de elogio.
श्षशुर उवाच
Generosity (dāna) performed in a dharmic spirit is portrayed as a high virtue that draws communal and even cosmic affirmation; the ‘rain of flowers’ and the praise of celestial beings symbolize moral approval and the uplifting power of selfless giving.
A speaker points out a miraculous sign—flowers raining from the sky—while describing how divine messengers, gods, divine sages, and Gandharvas stand nearby, astonished and praising the recipient/performer of a remarkable act of giving.
