Arjuna and Ulūpī: Explanation of Śānti and the Maṇipūra Resolution
तमर्जुन: समाश्चास्य पुनरेवेदमब्रवीत् । आगन्तव्यं परां चैत्रीमश्वमेथे नृपस्य न:
tam arjunaḥ samāśvāsya punar evedam abravīt | āgantavyaṃ parāṃ caitrīm aśvamedhe nṛpasya naḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: Tras infundirle ánimo, Arjuna volvió a hablar así: «Oh rey, debes venir sin falta, en la próxima luna llena del mes de Caitra, al sacrificio del Aśvamedha de nuestro soberano».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic restoration through reassurance and inclusion: instead of perpetuating conflict, Arjuna consoles the other party and directs them toward a public, lawful rite (Aśvamedha) that reaffirms legitimate sovereignty and social harmony.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Arjuna, after calming and encouraging the addressed person, instructs him to attend the forthcoming Caitra full-moon occasion at their king’s Aśvamedha sacrifice—an invitation that signals acceptance and the consolidation of the king’s authority.
