Marutta Seeks Saṃvarta’s Priestly Support; Conditions, Truth-Discipline, and Rival Powers
The verse highlights reverence for a realized sage and the gravity of a rishi’s actions: after fulfilling his duty of introduction and granting leave, the divine seer withdraws in a decisive, sacrificially charged act (entering Agni), underscoring detachment and the sanctity of ritual fire.
Marutta recounts that Nārada (called ‘the foremost of divine seers’) introduced the addressed person to him, then formally took leave of Marutta and entered Havyavāhana—Agni—signaling a dramatic departure and transition in the episode.
