नक्तंचराणां भूतानां व्यादिदेश बलिं तदा | तदनन्तर पुरोहितने घड़ोंमें भात भरकर बलि अर्पित की। इसके बाद भूपालने ब्राह्मणोंको सहस्रों गौएँ देकर निशाचारी भूतोंको भी बलि भेंट की

naktaṃcarāṇāṃ bhūtānāṃ vyādideśa baliṃ tadā |

Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Entonces el rey ordenó que se presentara una ofrenda (bali) incluso a los espíritus que vagan de noche. Conforme al deber ritual, que abarca una hospitalidad sin omisiones, el sacerdote dispuso arroz cocido en vasijas y lo ofreció como oblación. Después, el soberano honró a los brāhmaṇas con miles de vacas y completó también las ofrendas destinadas a los seres nocturnos, sin descuidar a ninguna clase de destinatario.
