वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a colophon, the verse does not teach through argument but through framing: it underscores that dharmic intentions (especially ritual or public duties) require proper preparation—gathering the necessary means and proceeding in an orderly, responsible way.
The narrator marks the completion of a chapter in the Anugītā section within the Aśvamedhika Parva, specifying that the chapter’s topic was the undertaking of bringing materials (requisites), and formally closes it.
