The Wheel of Time and the Norms of the Āśramas

This insentient Wheel of Time—bound up with the pairs of opposites (such as attraction and aversion)—is what brings forth the entire world, even with its gods, and also draws it back again in dissolution. Yet the very same wheel, when rightly understood, becomes a means for awakening: it impels beings toward discernment and thus serves as an instrument for attaining knowledge of reality.

Embodied existence runs under an impersonal, insentient cycle of time driven by dualities (dvandvas). The same cycle that causes creation and dissolution can, when understood with discernment, become a doorway to tattva-jñāna (knowledge of reality) and freedom from bondage.
Vāyudeva continues a philosophical instruction describing the ‘kālacakra’—the cyclical mechanism of worldly bondage. He summarizes that this duality-bound, non-conscious process governs the arising and passing away of the cosmos (including the gods) and can also serve as a catalyst for awakening when properly comprehended.
