Sustained restraint of the senses (indriyāṇāṁ nirodha) is presented as the practical means to abandon entrenched moral failings—desire, anger, fear, greed, malice, and untruth—thereby stabilizing one’s conduct in dharma.
Vāyudeva is speaking as a moral instructor, enumerating key inner enemies and prescribing sense-control as the discipline through which a person can reliably give them up.
