Dehānta (Cyavana) and Upapatti: Kāśyapa’s Questions and the Siddha’s Account of Death, Pain, and Karmic Re-embodiment

दृश्यन्ते संत्यजन्तश्न॒ शरीराणि द्विजर्षभ । गर्भसंक्रमणे चापि मर्मणामतिसर्पणे,विप्रवर! सभी जीव अपने शरीरोंका त्याग करते देखे जाते हैं। गर्भमें मनुष्य प्रवेश करते समय तथा गर्भसे नीचे गिरते समय भी वैसी ही वेदनाका अनुभव करता है। मृत्यु- कालमें जीवोंके शरीरकी सन्धियाँ टूटने लगती हैं और जन्मके समय वह गर्भस्थ जलसे भीगकर अत्यन्त व्याकुल हो उठता है

dṛśyante santyajantaś ca śarīrāṇi dvijarṣabha | garbha-saṅkramaṇe cāpi marmaṇām ati-sarpaṇe ||

Dijo el Siddha: «Oh el mejor de los dos veces nacidos, se ve a los seres abandonar sus cuerpos. También al entrar en el vientre, y cuando las articulaciones vitales y los puntos sensibles se ven dolorosamente perturbados, se padece un sufrimiento semejante. Así, nacimiento y muerte están ambos marcados por una angustia intensa, recordándonos que la vida encarnada es inseparable del dolor y que debe cultivarse el desapego y la recta conducta».
