धृतराष्ट्रस्य वनप्रस्थानानुज्ञा | Permission for Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Forest-Retirement
सर्वेर्भवद्धिद्रष्टव्य: समेषु विषमेषु च । ये कुरुकुलरत्न कुन्तीपुत्र राजा युधिष्ठिर आपलोगोंके पालक हैं। अच्छे और बुरे सभी समयोंमें आप सब लोग इनपर कृपादृष्टि रखें
sarvair bhavadbhir draṣṭavyaḥ sameṣu viṣameṣu ca | ye kurukularatnaḥ kuntīputro rājā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ āpālokānāṁ pālakaḥ | acche bure sabhī samayoṁ meṁ āpa sab log inpar kṛpādṛṣṭi rakheṁ |
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: «Todos vosotros debéis mantener los ojos puestos en él, tanto en tiempos favorables como en tiempos adversos. El rey Yudhiṣṭhira, hijo de Kuntī, joya del linaje de los Kuru, es el protector de todos vosotros. Por ello, en toda estación de fortuna y de infortunio, que vuestra mirada repose sobre él con compasión y apoyo».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes reciprocal dharma: a righteous king protects the people, and the people (and elders/attendants around him) should support and watch over him with compassion in both prosperity and adversity, sustaining ethical order through mutual responsibility.
In the Āśramavāsika context, Vaiśampāyana highlights Yudhiṣṭhira’s role as the Kuru lineage’s foremost king and guardian of the populace, urging those around him to remain attentive and benevolent toward him through changing circumstances.
