Vyāsa’s Inquiry into Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Tapas and the Identification of Vidura with Dharma
सहदेवस्य राजेन्द्र राज्ञश्नैव विशेषत: । राजेन्द्र! इस तरह अनेक प्रकारकी बातें कहकर कुन्तीने सहदेव तथा राजा युधिष्ठिरके मनको धीरज बँधाया
sahadevasya rājendra rājñaś caiva viśeṣataḥ | rājendra! itthaṃ aneka-prakārāḥ bātāḥ kathayitvā kuntī sahadevaṃ tathā rājānaṃ yudhiṣṭhiram manasaḥ dhairyeṇa samāśvāsayat |
Vaiśaṃpāyana dijo: “Oh rey, y en especial respecto de Sahadeva y del rey Yudhiṣṭhira: tras hablar de muchas maneras, Kuntī fortaleció el corazón de Sahadeva y del rey Yudhiṣṭhira, afirmándolos con valor y consuelo.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dhairya—steadfast composure—as an ethical response to suffering: wise counsel and compassionate speech can stabilize a shaken mind and help one continue on the path of dharma.
Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that Kuntī, by speaking in various ways, reassures and strengthens the hearts of Sahadeva and King Yudhiṣṭhira, who are emotionally burdened in the Ashramavāsika context.
