Nārada’s Exempla of Tapas and Assurance to Dhṛtarāṣṭra (नारदोपदेशः—तपःसिद्ध्युदाहरणम्)

Educational Q&A

Even sovereign power is ethically bounded by dharma: one must rise, receive, and bow to realized sages. The verse highlights humility, reverence for spiritual wisdom, and the social duty of honoring holy guests.

Vyāsa, accompanied by divine seers and his disciples, comes to meet the kings. Yudhiṣṭhira, Dhṛtarāṣṭra, Bhīma, and the others stand up to welcome them and offer salutations, marking a respectful reception of the sages in the forest-setting of the Āśramavāsika episode.
