ततस्ते बाष्पमुत्सृज्य गान्धारीसहितं नृपम् । उपतस्थुर्महात्मानो मातरं च यथाविधि,तत्पश्चात् अपने नेत्रोंके आँसू पोंछकर महात्मा पाण्डवोंने गान्धारीसहित राजा धृतराष्ट्र तथा माता कुन्तीको विधिपूर्वक प्रणाम किया
tatas te bāṣpam utsṛjya gāndhārī-sahitaṁ nṛpam | upatasthur mahātmāno mātaraṁ ca yathā-vidhi ||
Luego, enjugándose las lágrimas, los nobles Pāṇḍavas se acercaron y, conforme al rito debido, rindieron homenaje respetuoso al rey Dhṛtarāṣṭra junto con Gāndhārī, y también a su madre Kuntī. La escena subraya un duelo disciplinado: el dolor se reconoce, pero el deber y la reverencia hacia los mayores se mantienen mediante la conducta apropiada.
