एवं स तपसा राजन धृतराष्ट्री महामना: । योजयामास चात्मान तांश्षाप्पनुचरांस्तदा,राजन! इस प्रकार महामनस्वी राजा धुृतराष्ट्रने अपने-आपको तथा साथ आये हुए लोगोंको भी तपस्यामें लगा दिया
evaṁ sa tapasā rājan dhṛtarāṣṭrī mahāmanāḥ | yojayāmāsa cātmānaṁ tāṁś cāpy anucarāṁs tadā ||
Así, oh Rey, el magnánimo Dhṛtarāṣṭra se aplicó a la austeridad; y en aquel tiempo hizo también que los servidores que lo acompañaban se ejercitaran en la misma disciplina.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even a ruler burdened by past outcomes can turn toward dharma through tapas and self-restraint; ethical renewal is strengthened when one leads others into disciplined living rather than seeking comfort or privilege.
Vaiśampāyana reports that Dhṛtarāṣṭra, now living in the forest, undertakes austerities and also directs his accompanying attendants to adopt the same ascetic regimen.
