Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Śrāddha Request and Bhīma’s Objection (Āśramavāsika-parva, Adhyāya 17)
चक्रतुः कुरुवीरस्य गान्धार्याश्चवाविदूरत: । तदनन्तर विदुर और संजयने कुरुप्रवीर राजा धृतराष्ट्रके लिये कुशोंकी शथ्या बिछा दी। उनके पास ही गान्धारीके लिये एक पृथक् आसन लगा दिया
vaishampāyana uvāca | cakratuḥ kuruvīrasya gāndhāryāś ca vā vidūrataḥ | tadanantaraṃ viduraḥ sañjayaś ca kurupravīrāya rājñe dhṛtarāṣṭrāya kuśānāṃ śayyāṃ bibhidatuḥ | tasya samīpe gāndhāryai pṛthag āsanaṃ nyadhattaḥ |
Vaiśampāyana dijo: Prepararon un lugar de reposo para el héroe de los Kurus y para Gāndhārī, algo apartado. Luego Vidura y Sañjaya extendieron un lecho de hierba kuśa para el rey Dhṛtarāṣṭra, el más eminente de los Kurus, y cerca de él dispusieron un asiento separado para Gāndhārī.

Even after political collapse and personal grief, dharma expresses itself through humble service, respect for elders, and acceptance of austere living; the shift from royal comfort to kuśa-grass bedding symbolizes inner discipline and detachment.
In the forest setting of the Āśramavāsika episode, Vidura and Sañjaya arrange simple resting places: a kuśa-grass bed for the blind King Dhṛtarāṣṭra and a separate seat for Gāndhārī, placed somewhat apart, marking their new ascetic mode of life.
