Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
तमूचुर्विबुधा: सर्वे ते चैव परमर्षय: । त्वां नियोक्ष्यामहे कार्ये तद् भवान् कर्तुमरहति
tam ūcur vibudhāḥ sarve te caiva paramarṣayaḥ | tvāṁ niyokṣyāmahe kārye tad bhavān kartum arhati |
Bhishma dijo: Entonces todos los dioses, junto con los supremos rishis, le hablaron: «Te destinaremos a una tarea. Debes llevarla a cabo. Al cumplir ese deber, tú también obtendrás un gran beneficio.»
भीष्म उवाच
A rightful duty, when assigned by legitimate moral-spiritual authority (devas and great seers), should be accepted and performed; fulfilling such a task brings both ethical completion and personal benefit (merit, welfare, or spiritual gain).
In Bhishma’s narration, the assembled gods and foremost sages address a person and formally appoint him to a specific undertaking, urging him to carry it out and indicating that success will yield a significant reward for him as well.
