Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa

Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results

तदेवायतन चक्कु: पुण्यं सर्वक्रियास्वपि । ततः प्रभृति चाप्यग्नि: शमीगर्भेषु दृश्यते

tad evāyatanaṃ cakṣuḥ puṇyaṃ sarvakriyāsv api | tataḥ prabhṛti cāpy agniḥ śamīgarbheṣu dṛśyate ||

Bhishma dijo: «Ese mismo śamī se convirtió en la morada sagrada y en el signo visible para todos los ritos. Desde entonces, se ve a Agni habitando en el seno (hueco/corazón) del árbol śamī.» El pasaje presenta al śamī como un lugar ritualmente puro para el fuego, arraigando la acción sacrificial en una fuente sancionada por el dharma y subrayando la pureza y los medios correctos en la práctica religiosa.
