Cows and Ghee as Supreme Purifiers
असुर्या नाम ते लोका गां दत्त्वा तानू न गच्छति । पीतोदकां जग्धतृणां नष्टक्षीरां निरिन्द्रियाम्
bhīṣma uvāca | asuryā nāma te lokā gāṁ dattvā tānū na gacchati | pītodakāṁ jagdhatṛṇāṁ naṣṭakṣīrāṁ nirindriyām |
Bhīṣma dijo: «Existen mundos llamados “Asurya”, reinos sombríos sin sol. Quien dona una vaca en condiciones apropiadas no ha de ir a esos lugares. Pero si alguien entrega una vaca a la que se ha dejado sin agua, sin pasto, con la leche arruinada y con los sentidos y la fuerza ya quebrantados—vieja y enferma—, ese “don” no hace sino imponer un sufrimiento inútil al brāhmaṇa que la recibe, y el donante mismo cae en un terrible infierno».
