न मित्रधुडनैकृतिक: कृतघ्नः शठो<नृजुर्धर्मविद्वेषकश्न । न ब्रह्महा मनसापि प्रपश्येद् गवां लोकं पुण्यकृतां निवासम्
na mitradhruḍ anaitṛtikaḥ kṛtaghnaḥ śaṭho 'nṛjur dharmavidveṣakaś ca | na brahmahā manasāpi prapaśyed gavāṁ lokaṁ puṇyakṛtāṁ nivāsam ||
Dijo Bhīṣma: Quien traiciona a los amigos, obra sin rectitud, es ingrato, engañoso, torcido y hostil al dharma—e incluso quien mata a un brāhmaṇa—no puede, ni siquiera en pensamiento, contemplar el mundo de las vacas (Goloka), morada reservada a quienes han acumulado mérito.
पितामह उवाच
Moral character determines spiritual destiny: treachery, ingratitude, deceit, hostility to dharma, and grave violence such as brahma-hatyā block access to exalted realms like Goloka, which are reserved for the meritorious.
In Bhīṣma’s instruction discourse (Anuśāsana Parva), he lists disqualifying vices and declares that a person burdened with such faults cannot attain or even envision Goloka, described as the abode of the virtuous.
