य इदं श्रावयेच्छाद्धे भूमिदानस्य सम्भवम् | न तस्य रक्षसां भागो नासुराणां भवत्युत
ya idaṁ śrāvayec chrāddhe bhūmidānasya sambhavam | na tasya rakṣasāṁ bhāgo nāsurāṇāṁ bhavaty uta ||
Bhishma dijo: Quien haga recitar, en el tiempo del śrāddha, este relato sobre el origen y la grandeza del don de la tierra, para él ninguna porción de la ofrenda quedará al alcance de los rākṣasas ni de los asuras.
भीष्म उवाच
Reciting or hearing the teaching on the origin and sanctity of land-gift during śrāddha safeguards the rite: the offering’s intended share is not diverted to hostile beings (rākṣasas/asuras), underscoring the power of right knowledge, proper ritual context, and dharmic intention.
In Bhīṣma’s instruction on dāna-dharma within the Anuśāsana Parva, he states a specific śrāddha-related fruit: if this account concerning bhūmi-dāna is recited at the ancestral rite, the offerings remain protected from interference by malevolent beings.
