Cyavana–Kuśika Dialogue on Lineage, Conflict, and Transmission
न च तौ चक्रतुः क्रोधं॑ दम्पती सुमहामती । तयो: सम्प्रेक्षतोरेव पुनरन्तर्हितो5भवत्,परंतु उन परम बुद्धिमान् दम्पतिने उनपर क्रोध नहीं प्रकट किया। उन दोनोंके देखते- ही-देखते वे मुनि फिर अन्तर्धान हो गये
na ca tau cakratuḥ krodhaṁ dampatī sumahāmatī | tayoḥ samprekṣator eva punar antarhito 'bhavat ||
Dijo Bhishma: Sin embargo, aquel esposo y aquella esposa, supremamente sabios, no cedieron a la ira contra ellos. Mientras ambos miraban, el sabio volvió a desvanecerse de la vista—mostrando que el dominio de sí y la paciencia son más altos que la represalia, aun cuando uno sea provocado.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights kṣamā and dama—refusing to manifest anger even when confronted—implying that moral strength lies in restraint rather than reaction.
A sage who had appeared before a highly intelligent husband and wife disappears again (becomes invisible) while they watch, and the couple does not respond with anger.
