गोमूल्यनिर्णयः — The Determination of Value through the Cow
Nahuṣa–Cyavana Episode
कुले स्रोतसि संच्छन्ने यस्य स्थाद् योनिसंकर: । संश्रयत्येव तच्छीलं नरोडल्पमथवा बहु
kule srotasi saṁchannē yasya sthād yonisaṅkaraḥ | saṁśrayatyeva tacchīlaṁ naro 'lpam athavā bahu ||
Bhishma dijo: Aun cuando la línea de una familia quede velada—de modo que exteriormente no se sepa quién pertenece a qué linaje ni de qué semilla ha nacido—, la persona nacida de una unión mezclada o confusa (saṅkara-yoni) inevitablemente asume el temperamento de su padre, sea en poca o en gran medida. La enseñanza es que el origen oculto no borra las tendencias heredadas; por ello conviene velar por la conducta, las normas del matrimonio y la custodia del linaje y del carácter.
