Cyavana’s Water-Vow and the Ethics of Cohabitation (स्नेह-सम्वास-धर्मः)
जातानां समवर्णाया: पुत्राणामविशेषत: । सर्वेषामेव वर्णानां समभागो धनात् स्मृत:,समस्त वर्णोके सभी पुत्रोंका, जो समान वर्णकी स्त्रीसे उत्पन्न हुए हैं, सामान्यतः: पैतृक धनमें समान भाग माना गया है
jātānāṃ samavarṇāyāḥ putrāṇām aviśeṣataḥ | sarveṣām eva varṇānāṃ samabhāgo dhanāt smṛtaḥ ||
Bhīṣma dijo: «Como regla general, los hijos nacidos de una esposa de la misma varṇa, sin distinción, se recuerdan como poseedores de una parte igual de la herencia paterna. Este principio se tiene por aplicable a todas las varṇas.»
भीष्म उवाच
That legitimate sons born from a wife of the same varṇa are entitled, without discrimination, to equal shares of the paternal estate; this is presented as a remembered Smṛti-based norm applicable across varṇas.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s dharma-instruction setting, Bhīṣma is laying down a rule of inheritance and family justice, clarifying how property should be divided among sons to uphold fairness and social order.
