Devaśarmā–Vipula Dialogue on Ahorātra–Ṛtu as Moral Witnesses (अनुशासन पर्व, अध्याय ४३)
“विपुल गुरुपत्नीके शरीरको स्तम्भित करके उसकी रक्षामें संलग्न हो वहीं निवास करने लगे। परंतु रुचिको अपने शरीरमें उनके आनेका पता न चला ।।
yaṃ kālaṃ nāgato rājan gurus tasya mahātmanaḥ | kratuṃ samāpya svagṛhaṃ taṃ kālaṃ so ’bhyarakṣata ||
Dijo Bhishma: «Oh rey, mientras el noble maestro de Vipula no hubo regresado a su casa—tras concluir su rito sacrificial—durante todo ese tiempo Vipula mantuvo una guardia vigilante, permaneciendo allí para proteger a la esposa de su guru».
भीष्म उवाच
Dharma is shown as steadfast duty and self-restraint: a disciple must protect the guru’s household—especially the guru’s wife—without wavering, even in the guru’s absence, treating that trust as sacred.
While Vipula’s guru is away completing a sacrificial rite and has not yet returned home, Vipula stays there and continues guarding the guru’s wife for the entire duration, maintaining vigilant protection until the guru’s return.
