Pūjya-namaskārya-prakaraṇa

On Those Worthy of Honor and Salutation

उसे गिरते देख सम्पूर्ण भूतोंके हितमें तत्पर रहनेवाले वर देनेमें समर्थ इन्द्रने दौड़कर पकड़ लिया ।।

śakra uvāca | mataṅga brāhmaṇatvaṃ te viruddham iha dṛśyate | brāhmaṇyaṃ durlabhataraṃ saṃvṛtaṃ paripanthibhiḥ ||

Al ver a Mataṅga caer, Indra—capaz de otorgar dones y siempre solícito por el bien de todos los seres—corrió y lo sostuvo. Śakra (Indra) dijo: «Oh Mataṅga, en esta misma vida la obtención de la condición de brāhmaṇa parece vedada para ti. La brāhmaṇidad es sumamente difícil de alcanzar, y está cercada por salteadores del camino—como el deseo y la ira—que obstruyen la senda».
