Aṣṭāvakra–Strī-saṃvāda: Dhṛti, hospitality, and a dispute on autonomy
अन्यान्यपि सुरम्याणि पश्यत: सुबहून्यथ । भृशं तस्य मनो रेमे महर्षेभावितात्मन:
anyāny api suramyāṇi paśyataḥ subahūny atha | bhṛśaṃ tasya mano reme maharṣer bhāvitātmanaḥ ||
Y mientras seguía contemplando muchos otros espectáculos sumamente deleitosos, el ánimo de aquel gran sabio —de espíritu cultivado y disciplinado— se regocijó hondamente. El verso subraya cómo una conciencia purificada y bien adiestrada responde a la belleza y a lo auspicioso sin agitación, hallando una alegría serena y no un deseo inquieto.
भीष्म उवाच
A mind that is cultivated (bhāvitātman) can experience beauty and abundance with deep, steady joy rather than distraction or craving; inner refinement shapes ethical and serene enjoyment of the world.
Bhīṣma describes a great sage observing many delightful scenes; as he continues to see more and more pleasing sights, his mind becomes profoundly joyful, indicating his disciplined and purified inner state.
