निष्क्रान्ते मयि कल्याणि तथा संनिहिते5नघे । नातिथिस्ते5वमन्तव्य: प्रमाणं यद्यहं तव
niṣkrānte mayi kalyāṇi tathā saṃnihite ’naghe | nātithis te ’vamantavyaḥ pramāṇaṃ yady ahaṃ tava ||
Dijo Bhīṣma: «Oh auspiciosa, oh irreprochable: ya me haya marchado o permanezca aún cerca, nunca debes tratar con desprecio a un huésped (atithi). Si me tomas por norma de conducta, que ésta sea tu regla: el huésped no ha de ser deshonrado en circunstancia alguna.»
