इत्युक्त्वा सुह्ृद: सर्वान् सम्परिष्वज्य चैव ह । पुनरेवाब्रवीद् धीमान् युधिष्ठिरमिदं वच:
ity uktvā suhṛdaḥ sarvān sampariṣvajya caiva ha | punar evābravīd dhīmān yudhiṣṭhiram idaṃ vacaḥ ||
Dicho esto, el sabio Bhīṣma abrazó a todos sus bienquerientes. Luego, volviéndose de nuevo hacia Yudhiṣṭhira, le dijo: «Yudhiṣṭhira, debes honrar siempre a todos los brāhmaṇas en general—y en especial a los eruditos—así como a tus maestros y a los sacerdotes oficiantes (ṛtvij).»
