कैलासं प्रस्थितां चैव नदीं गड्जां महातपा: । आनयत् तत्सरो दिव्यं तया भिन्न च तत्सर:
kailāsaṁ prasthitāṁ caiva nadīṁ gaṅgāṁ mahātapāḥ | ānayat tatsaro divyaṁ tayā bhinnaṁ ca tatsaraḥ ||
Bhishma dijo: Los grandes ascetas condujeron al río Gaṅgā, que se encaminaba hacia Kailāsa, hasta aquel lago celestial. Apenas entró Gaṅgā, rompió el dique del lago; y del boquete abierto por Gaṅgā, el caudal que brotó llegó a ser célebre como el río Sarayū.
