Pratyakṣa–Āgama–Ācāra: Doubt, Proof, and the Practice of Dharma (प्रत्यक्ष–आगम–आचारविचारः)
उमोवाच (एषां यायावराणां तु धर्ममिच्छामि मानद । कृपया परया<<विष्टस्तन्मे ब्रूहि महेश्वर ।।
śrīmaheśvara uvāca |
dharmaṃ yāyāvarāṇāṃ tvaṃ śṛṇu bhāmini tatparā ||
vratopavāsaśuddhāṅgās tīrthasnānaparāyaṇāḥ ||
dhṛtimantaḥ kṣamāyuktāḥ satyavrataparāyaṇāḥ ||
pakṣamāsopavāsaiś ca karśitā dharmadarśinaḥ ||
varṣāśītātapair eva kurvantaḥ paramaṃ tapaḥ ||
kālayogena gacchanti śakralokaṃ śucismite ||
Dijo Umā: «Oh Maheshvara, dispensador de honra para todos: deseo oír el dharma de los yāyāvaras (ascetas errantes). Por tu gran compasión, dímelo». Mahādeva respondió: «Oh hermosa, escucha con atención el dharma de los yāyāvaras. Sus cuerpos se purifican mediante votos y ayunos, y se entregan al baño en los tīrthas (vados sagrados). Dotados de firmeza y paciencia, consagrados a votos de verdad, se consumen con ayunos de quincena y de mes, manteniendo la mirada fija en el dharma. Soportando lluvia, frío y calor, emprenden severas austeridades; y cuando llega su hora (por la ordenanza del Tiempo), parten hacia el cielo de Śakra».
