अतिथिदव्रतता धर्मों धर्मस्त्रेताग्निधारणम् | इष्टी क्ष पशुबन्धां श्व विधिपूर्व समाचरेत्
atithidavr̥tatā dharmo dharmas tretāgnidhāraṇam | iṣṭīś ca paśubandhāṁś ca vidhpūrvam samācaret ||
Mahādeva dijo: «Para él, es dharma ser constante en los deberes hacia el huésped—acoger y honrar al atithi—y es igualmente dharma mantener los tres fuegos sagrados del hogar. Debe también realizar debidamente los diversos ritos sacrificiales (iṣṭis) y los ritos prescritos de ofrenda animal, conforme al procedimiento correcto».
