Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
The verse models dharmic petition: one approaches the divine with humility and a legitimate aim (progeny within household life), grounding the request in reverence and in an acknowledged exemplar (Kṛṣṇa’s sons by Rukmiṇī), rather than in entitlement.
Vāsudeva addresses Kṛṣṇa (Madhusūdana), asking him to grant a son, comparing the desired blessing to the sons Kṛṣṇa has through Rukmiṇī, described as noble and valorous.
