Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
गौर: श्यामस्तथा कृष्ण: पाण्डुरो धूमलोहित: । विकृताक्षो विशालाक्षो दिग्वासा: सर्ववासक:
gauraḥ śyāmas tathā kṛṣṇaḥ pāṇḍuro dhūmalohitaḥ | vikṛtākṣo viśālākṣo digvāsāḥ sarvavāsakaḥ ||
Vāsudeva dijo: «Él aparece en muchas formas: a veces claro, a veces moreno, a veces oscuro, a veces pálido; a veces del color del humo o rojo como el cobre. A veces sus ojos parecen deformes, y otras veces está adornado con ojos hermosos y grandes. A veces se le ve sin vestidura, y otras veces engalanado con toda clase de ropajes».
