Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity

Educational Q&A

The passage emphasizes karmaphala: righteous conduct and accumulated merit can yield exalted post-mortem results—freedom from suffering (disease and anxiety) and enjoyment in celestial realms for an immense duration.

Bhishma describes the reward attained by a meritorious person: he appears in a radiant form, wearing divine garments, and enjoys heavenly pleasures for an extraordinarily long time, untroubled by illness or worry.
