Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity
The verse underscores the Mahābhārata’s ethical logic of karma-phala: virtuous, meritorious living is said to yield exalted posthumous results—symbolized by a radiant vimāna and residence in a blissful celestial realm.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma continues instructing Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and the fruits of good deeds. Here he describes a specific heavenly attainment—gaining a golden-lustred vimāna and dwelling amid celestial women in an abode filled with music and dance.
