Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity

Educational Q&A

Bhīṣma emphasizes that righteous accomplishment brings honor and a high spiritual reward—comparable to the merit of an opulent, gold-endowed sacrifice—showing that moral-spiritual attainment is recognized and recompensed.

Bhīṣma describes the post-attainment condition of a successful person: in those higher realms he is revered by celestial maidens and receives the same merit-fruit as one would gain from performing a lavish sacrifice.
