Sustained ritual duty (Agnihotra) combined with disciplined restraint in food is presented as dharmic conduct that generates puṇya, culminating in a radiant, joy-filled heavenly attainment symbolized by divine adornments and a celestial chariot.
Bhishma is enumerating the fruits of specific vows and sacrificial observances. Here he describes the result of a year-long Agnihotra with a strict eating regimen: the practitioner gains celestial ornaments and enjoys long residence in the Sun’s realm, traveling in a golden swan-yoked vimāna.
