Nahūṣa Episode and the Commendation of Lamp-Gifting and Household Offerings
सर्वे तस्य समुत्पन्ना देवेन्द्रस्य महात्मन: । देवलोके नृलोके च सदाचारा बुधै: स्मृता:
sarve tasya samutpannā devendrasya mahātmanaḥ | devaloke nṛloke ca sadācārā budhaiḥ smṛtāḥ ||
Bhīṣma dijo: «Todo cuanto ha surgido de aquel magnánimo Indra es recordado por los sabios como ejemplo de buena conducta, tanto en el mundo de los dioses como entre los hombres».
भीष्म उवाच
Virtue is validated by the judgment of the wise and is expected to be consistent across realms: those connected with the highest divine order (Indra) are held up as models of sadācāra (good conduct) for both gods and humans.
Bhīṣma, in his instruction on dharma, cites Indra’s line/associates as being traditionally remembered as virtuous, reinforcing a standard of conduct recognized in both heavenly and human spheres.
