नहुषोपाख्यानम्—दीपदान-धूप-बलीकर्म-प्रशंसा
Nahūṣa Episode and the Commendation of Lamp-Gifting and Household Offerings
ततः स परिहीणो<भूत् सुरेन्द्रो बलदर्पत: । धूपदीपोदकविधधि न यथावच्चकार ह
tataḥ sa parihīṇo 'bhūt surendro baladarpataḥ | dhūpadīpodakavidhīṁ na yathāvac cakāra ha ||
Bhīṣma dijo: «Entonces aquel señor de los dioses cayó de su condición debida, embriagado por el orgullo del poder. Ya no cumplía, como estaba prescrito, los ritos de ofrecer incienso, lámparas y agua». El pasaje subraya cómo la arrogancia corroe la disciplina en los deberes sagrados, y cómo el descuido incluso de las ofrendas diarias más simples anuncia una caída más honda en el dharma.
