Gārhasthya-dharma: Vāsudeva–Pṛthivī-saṃvāda
Householder Duties and Daily Offerings
इदमस्ति गृहे महमिति नित्यं निवेदयेत् । ते यद् वदेयुस्तत् कुर्यादिति धर्मों विधीयते
idam asti gṛhe mama iti nityaṃ nivedayet | te yad vadeyus tat kuryād iti dharmo vidhīyate |
Dijo Vāyudeva: «Debe uno declarar con humildad y de continuo: “Esto está en mi casa”. Y cuanto ordenen esos mayores o huéspedes, eso mismo ha de hacerse: tal es la norma del dharma. En términos éticos, se considera atithi (huésped) a quien no permanece asentado de modo permanente en la casa de uno. Por ello, al maestro, al padre, al amigo de confianza y al huésped, hay que ofrecer siempre lo que haya en casa e invitarles a aceptarlo; y luego actuar exactamente según su indicación. Con tal conducta—hospitalidad, reverencia y obediencia a la guía legítima—se sostiene el dharma.»
