ययातिरुवाच द्वाभ्यां कन्‍न्यासहस्राभ्यां द्वे कन्‍्ये परिवारिते । गोत्रे च नामनी चैव द्वयो: पृच्छाम्यहं शुभे,ययातिने पूछा--दो हजार- कुमारी सखियोंसे घिरी हुई कन्‍्याओ! मैं आप दोनोंके गोत्र और नाम पूछ रहा हूँ। शुभे! आप दोनों अपना परिचय दें

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca | yayātir uvāca—dvābhyāṁ kanyāsahasrābhyāṁ dve kanye parivārite | gotre ca nāmanī caiva dvayoḥ pṛcchāmy ahaṁ śubhe |

Translation

Vaiśampāyana dijo: El rey Yayāti habló: “Oh doncellas auspiciosas, vosotras dos estáis rodeadas por dos mil compañeras. Os pregunto a ambas vuestro linaje (gotra) y vuestros nombres. Decidme quiénes sois.”
