Duḥṣanta–Śakuntalā: Gandharva Marriage and Succession Condition
संह्ाद इति विख्यात: प्रह्मादस्यानुजस्तु यः । स शल्य इति विख्यातो जज्ञे बाह्लीकपुज्रव:,प्रहादका छोटा भाई जो संह्ादके नामसे विख्यात था, वही बाह्लीक देशका सुप्रसिद्ध राजा शल्य हुआ। प्रह्मदका ही दूसरा छोटा भाई जिसका नाम अनुह्ाद था, धृष्टकेतु नामक राजा हुआ
Saṁhrāda iti vikhyātaḥ Prahrādasya anujaḥ tu yaḥ | sa Śalya iti vikhyāto jajñe Bāhlīka-puṅgavaḥ |
Vaiśaṃpāyana dijo: «El hermano menor de Prahrāda, célebre con el nombre de Saṃhrāda, nació como el afamado Śalya, el más eminente soberano entre los Bāhlīkas.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores the epic theme that social and political identity is anchored in lineage: renowned kings are presented as continuations of earlier ancestral lines, linking fame and authority to inherited genealogy.
Vaiśaṃpāyana is recounting a genealogical account: Saṃhrāda, identified as Prahrāda’s younger brother, is said to have been born as Śalya, the foremost ruler among the Bāhlīkas.
