Duḥṣanta–Śakuntalā: Gandharva Marriage and Succession Condition
श्रियस्तु भाग: संजज्ञे रत्यर्थ पृथिवीतले । भीष्मकस्य कुले साध्वी रुक्मिणी नाम नामत:
śriyastu bhāgaḥ saṃjajñe ratyarthaṃ pṛthivītale | bhīṣmakasya kule sādhvī rukmiṇī nāma nāmataḥ ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Para el gozo y el bienestar del mundo sobre la tierra, nació una porción de Śrī (Lakṣmī), manifestándose en el noble linaje de Bhīṣmaka como la virtuosa dama llamada Rukmiṇī.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse presents the idea that divine auspiciousness (Śrī/Lakṣmī) can manifest in the human world to promote welfare and joy, and it links virtue (sādhvī) and noble lineage with the presence of dharmic grace.
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes the birth/manifestation of Rukmiṇī in Bhīṣmaka’s family, identifying her as a portion of Śrī (Lakṣmī) who appears on earth for the sake of delight and well-being.
