तं॑ भुवः शोधनायेन्द्र उवाच पुरुषोत्तमम् । अंशेनावतरेत्येवं तथेत्याह च तं हरि:,उन भगवान् पुरुषोत्तमके पास जाकर इन्द्रने उनसे कहा--'प्रभो! आप पृथ्वीका शोधन (भार-हरण) करनेके लिये अपने अंशसे अवतार ग्रहण करें।” तब श्रीहरिने “तथास्तु' कहकर उनकी प्रार्थना स्वीकार कर ली
Taṁ bhuvaḥ śodhanāyendra uvāca puruṣottamam | Aṁśenāvatara ity evaṁ tathety āha ca taṁ hariḥ ||
Entonces Indra se dirigió a Puruṣottama y dijo: “Señor, para la purificación de la tierra—para aliviarla de su opresiva carga—desciende, te lo ruego, por una porción de Ti mismo.” Hari (Viṣṇu), aceptando la súplica, respondió: “Así sea.”
